WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that will keep users by giving them more information about a group before joining it. That means the next time someone users don’t know adds users to a WhatsApp group, users will be shown additional details such as who added them, when the group was created, and who created it.
The Meta-owned platform said that this specific user safety feature is intended to help someone make a more informed decision on whether or not it’s a group that they are aware of or want to be a part of.
“It is particularly helpful if you just met someone or a group of people, and haven’t yet saved them in your contacts,” WhatsApp said in a press release.

When Will Users Get The New WhatsApp Feature?
While the feature might already be available to some WhatsApp users, it will be released to everyone on the platform in the coming weeks. Bad actors are infamous for adding users to unknown groups to push crypto or job scams, hoping that someone falls prey to them. Users can also be flooded with spam after being added to such groups.
Hence, in 2019, WhatsApp decided to give its users more control over who will be able to add them to a group. Now, users can go to Settings & go to Account $ Privacy > Groups, where they will be able to pick between three options: “Everyone,” “My Contacts,” or “My Contacts Except.”
Outside of a group, what happens when a stranger texts users on WhatsApp? In that case, as well, the platform said that it will provide the user with more context about the account holder that has texted them.

WhatsApp Will Let Meta AI Reply To Photos Sent By Users
After introducing Meta AI in WhatsApp, it seems like the service will enable Meta AI to edit and reply to images. WhatsApp is said to be working on introducing a feature to allow the AI to reply to photos and edit them.
The new feature will reportedly help get insights about the shared images. The new feature can also allow users to edit the pictures shared. Moreover, WABetaInfo has also shared screenshots of the AI feature, showcasing its capabilities and workings.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, which is a WhatsApp update tracker, the new feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.14.20. However, the feature is expected not to be made visible in the release, since the feature is still under development.
