Apple will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its flagship smartwatch in 2024. Nevertheless, the wearables are unlikely to evolve into true smartwatches on that day, as per a new leak.
That said, they may indeed be able to upgrade as blood pressure monitors this year itself, albeit with some caveats. The Apple Watch will turn ten this year, and as such is thought to drop the usual ‘Series’ branding in order to launch as the line’s first X variant instead in 2024.

Will Apple Watch X Be The Biggest Upgrade To Date?
Apple’s new move might not be as momentous as it sounds, similar to the iPhone in 2017, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The next generation of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and even Vision Pros are said to be unleased as Apple Intelligence devices out-of-the-box.
However, Apple’s upcoming “Watch X” might not embrace the company’s AI features at launch, despite having the same new chipset as the Ultra 3. The wearable is thought to come with the option of having an Ultra-sized screen, at least, on which the user may or may not be able to visualize their blood pressure for the first time.
Yet again, the feature might not be capable of anything like always-on monitoring, which, as Gurman points out, might be due to unexpected reliability issues in its first generation.

Apple Watch To Track Sleep Automatically With WatchOS 11
Sleep is one of the most important health metrics that smartwatch users eagerly track. And for some reason, Apple Watches haven’t managed to crack the code, lagging behind its competition.
Apple Watches are not designed to track sleep unless they use Apple’s Sleep Focus mode. However, with watchOS 11 it will be possible for users to automatically track sleep regardless of what mode their device is in.
This small yet significant change was spotted by Max Weinbach, who tweeted about the automatic sleep-tracking abilities. He later confirmed that the watch will automatically record naps in addition to overnight rest.
Simply put, if a user crashes out before their prescribed sleep schedule or oversleeps their intended wake-up, the watch will continue to collect their stats. It will enable users who want to use focus modes to still track their sleep. However, if users want to use the DND features of Sleep Focus, they are recommended to continue setting up a sleep schedule.
