WhatsApp has witnessed a lot of changes ever since Meta AI integrated into the personal messaging app. Now, the app could be in for even more changes with a new update for Meta AI that could provide the AI chatbot with a voice chat mode, according to a report by WABetaInfo.
As per the report, Meta AI on WhatsApp could soon get a new ‘voice chat’ mode, enabling users to better communicate with the chatbot and personalize their interactions. The feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.18.18 update seen on the Google Play Store and could soon make its way to the stable version of the app.

Meta AI On WhatsApp To Get Real-time Conversation
The new voice chat mode will enable users to have real-time conversations with Meta AI using voice commands. The new feature is said to result in faster, more natural and more efficient conversations with Meta AI, as speaking is faster than typing. Meta AI will reportedly have the ability to answer a user’s query in a selected voice, which users can change as per their preference.
Moreover, the platform is said to be testing a shortcut to quickly invoke Meta AI’s voice chat mode by simply pressing the floating action button within the chat list. WhatsApp users will also be able to manually activate the voice chat mode, which will enable the chatbot to continuously listen to their conversations and stop it by leaving the chat or switching to chat mode.
The app will enable users to easily verify that Meta’s AI voice chat mode is off, simply by noting that the visual indicator disappears from their screen when they leave the chat.

WhatsApp Contact Sync Feature Reportedly In The Works
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will enable users to manage their contacts better when using multiple accounts. The new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in a beta version of the app and could soon be available in a stable build of the app.
The report suggests that the platform on a new section that will let users manage the synchronization of their address book, letting them control how each contact is synced. The feature is aimed at users who benefit from the platform’s multi-account feature, allowing them to keep their work and personal contacts separate.
Moreover, even if users decide to disable contact syncing for their accounts, WhatsApp will provide them a manual sync option in the latest update, letting them sync each contact, which means they could sync specific contacts from their accounts without syncing the entire address book. Besides, users will also be able to unsync the contacts that were synced if they do not want them to be available on their linked devices.
