During the recent Made by Google event, the company revealed many new devices including the Pixel Watch 3, and announced that Google Maps on WearOS will soon let users download maps for offline navigation.
As per a new report by 9to5Google, it looks like Google has started rolling out the update. After updating Google Maps for WearOS to the latest version, users will see a new banner that says “Offline maps on the phone are auto-downloaded to the watch.” The app will also show a new “Offline maps” page located just above the “Settings” option.

Google Maps For WearOS To Automatically Download Maps
The report also suggests that in addition to syncing offline maps that are already stored on users’ phones, Google for WearOS will automatically start downloading a map of your area. But the app suggests that your WearOS watch will only sync users’ maps when it is connected to a Wi-Fi network and charging.
Similar to Android, the updated version of the app will also give users an idea of how much space it is taking up and let users delete downloaded maps with a single tap. Users will be able to manage the maps downloaded on their smartwatch by tapping on the new “Offline maps” button and tapping on the “Manage on Phone” option.
It seems like the feature is currently being pushed in a phased-out manner, so it could take some time before it is available on all smartwatches. Recently, the company introduced a new Google Maps tile for WearOS dubbed “Search and Go” and two new watches face complications – Search Maps and Show Map.

Google Maps Gets Speedometer And Speed Limit Feature
Google has released a live speedometer and speed limit display for Google Maps for iPhones and Apple CarPlay to enhance Google Maps on iOS devices. This feature, introduced for Android devices back in 2019, was expanded to more than 40 countries after initially being limited to select markets in May 2019.
After five years of existing on Android, the company has rolled out this update for iPhone users to help them avoid speeding while driving. Notably, Google Maps introduced these new speeding features in India last week, with the update now rolling out globally.
The new feature is available in Google Maps for iOS version 6.123.0. To access it, iPhone and CarPlay users simply need to open the Google Maps app on their iPhone. To use the new feature, all users need to do is open the app and navigate through it. Now, users need to tap on the profile picture that can be found at the top right corner of the screen. Now, users need to go to settings in the menu and select the “Settings” option.
