Apple finally took the wraps off of iOS 18 at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). The event also saw the launch of iPadOS 18 and WatchOS 11. The company announced a plethora of features and also upgraded the Control Center with a new look and functionality.
Third-party apps will also get access to Control Center and users will be able to add non-Apple apps. Moreover, iOS 18 allows for quick access to new groups of a user’s most-utilized controls, including Home controls, media playback, and connectivity. Users will be easily able to swipe between each of the options.
Users will also be able to customize where icons can be changed -- in terms of size, colors, and more. This is the first time Apple will let users change the size of the app icons.

Best iOS 18 Features Launched At WWDC 2024
iOS 18 will also bring a lot of new features for the Messages app. For instance, the company has launched a Send Later feature, enabling users to schedule their messages to contacts. Moreover, iOS 18 will allow for Messages via satellite for scenarios where cellular and Wi-Fi connections aren’t available.
The Photos app is also getting a new design with iOS 18. Users will get options like a new Trips section, where they can view all their travel photos. Besides, iOS 18 will let you lock apps, keeping them secured behind FaceID, TouchID, or a passcode. Also, the Hidden Apps folder will keep content like emails or messages hidden from search, notifications, and other places.

iPadOS 18 Finally Gets The Calculator App
Apple has finally done it! The company has finally launched the Calculator app for the iPad. As one would expect, the Calculator app for iPads looks a lot like its iOS counterpart, but it takes advantage of the bigger screen to provide users with more buttons and controls on-screen. The app also supports dynamic resizing when users multitask on the iPad. Math Notes is the highlight feature of the app, where calculations can be done in a more naturally written way, and it’s available for the Notes app as well.
iPadOS 18 leverages many AI features as well, including photo generation, Genmoji, intelligent notifications, new Siri, and much more. Aligning with the recent launch of an M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air, many users were expecting powerful new features in iPadOS 18 that will take advantage of the iPad Pro’s M4 chip.

WatchOS 11 Brings Vitals And Translate Apps
Apple also announced the next iteration of its watchOS for the Apple Watch. The new OS brings along a new Translate app that allows users to translate languages straight from their wrist, without having to use their iPhone at all. Moreover, the app is capable of recognizing when the user is traveling to a different country, and what language is spoken there. The OS will automatically show a widget in the Smart Stack with support for 20 languages.
Another AI-backed feature of the watchOS 11 analyses “thousands of photos” from the library and provides recommendations for watch faces. It leverages machine learning to determine which images feature the best composition, facial expressions, and other aesthetics.
Besides, the Vitals app will let users have a better look into crucial health metrics, including sleep duration, temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, and more. The Health app will be showing more information to its pregnant users, such as gestational age and high heart rate notifications. Also, the new Training Load feature shows users the intensity and duration of workouts, and how they impact their health.
