Samsung has announced that it will start rolling out Irregular heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) for Galaxy Watch users in India. Coupled with the existing Blood Pressure (BP) and Electrocardiogram (ECG), the South Korean firm says the new feature will enable users to detect “heart rhythms suggestive of atrial fibrillation (AFib) to enable users to keep better track of their health.”
For the unversed, Atrial fibrillation, also known as AFib, is a common arrhythmia and is an irregular heart rhythm that begins in the upper chambers of the heart (atria). it is usually asymptomatic and increases the risk of stroke and heart failure.

Which Smartwatch Will Get The New Feature?
Available with the latest version of the Samsung Health Monitor app, IHRN uses the BioActive sensor to continuously check for irregular heart rhythms in the background. When a certain number of measurements are irregular, Galaxy Watch will wanr the user about potential AFib activity and ask users to take an ECG reading for a more accurate measurement to provide an insight about their cardiovascular health.
The company’s Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification feature is available on the Galaxy Watch7 as well as older smartwatches like the Galaxy Watch6, Watch5, and Watch4 series devices.
Currently limited to Samsung devices, Galaxy Watch users are required to update the Samsung Health Monitor to the latest version from the Galaxy Store and simply allow IHRN from the app’s settings menu. While IHRN has been available on Galaxy Watches for quite some time in other regions, it wasn’t available in India due to restrictions from the government.

Samsung To Bring Circle To Search For Mid-Range Devices
Last week, there were reports that Galaxy AI might reach select models in the Galaxy A series in August or September. It was pretty much known that this AI exclusivity would end someday, and now, the company has finally made some announcements regarding the same. Samsung has revealed that its advanced AI features will be making way for budget/mid-range phones and tablets.
The popular Circle to Search feature is the first to land on Galaxy A smartphones and Fan Edition tablets. Samsung has announced that it is coming to the Galaxy A54, A34, A55, and A35 this month. Interestingly, even select 2023 Galaxy A phones are also getting this feature. Samsung confirmed Circle to Search for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ tablets.
Circle to Search is based on current Google technologies, i.e. Google Lens. However, Samsung brought it into One UI more intuitively with the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024. Lens has been around for years, but it feels like the partnership between Samsung and Google marked the tipping point where the tool became more popular.
