It’s been years since the first generation Nintendo Switch hit the market. But let’s not forget how much of a revelation it was when it came out. Almost everything about the device was appreciation-worthy, but there were a few areas where the handheld could have been better. While many exclusions were fine, users wished the Jo-Con controllers were better.
Well, it seems the company will be bringing better Joy-Con controllers with the next generation Nintendo Switch 2. If reports are to be believed, the Joy-Con on the upcoming handheld will be able to attach to the console magnetically. This seems like a significant upgrade over the rail system of the original Switch and Switch OLED.
Reports also point out that the new Joy-Con will be bigger than the current models. This aligns with other reports that have hinted that the Switch 2 will come in a bigger form factor.

How Will The New Joy-Con Attach To The Console?
While there are no images to prove these reports, Vandal has previously accurately reported about the previous-gen Switch console, especially the Switch OLED. Besides, the MSI Claw - a gaming handheld that challenges Valve’s Steam Deck, comes with magnetic controllers, so this isn’t anything new to the industry.
There are still several unanswered questions, though. For instance, how will the Joy-Con stay connected to the display? Magnets alone won’t be able to keep the display from getting detached from the display. This also means that current Joy-Con won’t work with the Nintendo Switch 2.
Interestingly, the report had some additional controller-related info on the upcoming console. Allegedly, the current Nintendo Switch Pro controllers will be compatible with Switch 2. This leaves open the possibility that the current Joy-Con won’t be able to attach to the upcoming console physically, but they can connect wirelessly.
If this happens to be true, it will be a welcomed change for the current users, as Joy-Con across the globe won’t immediately be obsolete after Switch 2 comes out. The launch window of the upcoming console has been pushed back to early 2025. Hopefully, we will get more information about the console in the coming months.

PS5 Pro Details Leaked
Sony PlayStation 5 Pro might hit the market very soon, though it’s impossible to be certain what hardware upgrades the new version will bring. There have been several rumours and speculations that hint at improvements in the console’s GPU performance. It might not be new information, but it is said that the new version’s CPU will target a 3.85GHz clock speed, which is 10% more than PS5, and will have a new ‘high-frequency CPU mode’ with a 3.5 GHz standard mode that will be similar to PS5.
