Fold and flip phones have changed the smartphone landscape, triggering a fresh wave of technological design innovations. In recent times, there have been several foldable smartphone launches. While Google recently unveiled its second foldable smartphone, Samsung has been poking Apple for quite some time, asking "Let us know when it folds."
But Chinese tech giant, Huawei seems to be going ahead of its competition in the race. According to recent reports, the company is working on a triple-fold smartphone. Yes, you read that right! Huawei seems to be aiming to bring a triple-fold device, becoming the first in the global market. And it’s not just an idea, as the device seems almost ready to be launched.

Huawei To Launch Its Unique Triple-Fold Smartphone
As per a report from GSMArena, Richard Yu, CEO of the consumer business division, has been spotted with the triple-fold device, not once but on multiple instances. Moreover, he spoke of an upcoming first-ever triple-fold smartphone during an event recently. While the company has yet to announce an official date for the launch, the confirmation from the CEO suggests that the teaser might be released soon.
The smartphone has been doing rounds of the rumor mill for quite some time. Earlier this month, an image of Huawei CEO Yu went viral, where he was seen with the upcoming tri-fold smartphone.
The image suggested that the device will come with a cetered punch-hole to house the selfie camera on the left-most screen. The smartphone will also have two creases because of two hinges instead of the one seen on regular folding smartphones such as the Huawei Mate X5, vivo X Fold3 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The device also looks pretty slim in Yu’s hands.

A Smartphone That Doubles As A Tablet
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming device resembles a prototype seen previously. It is said to come with a 10-inch screen, which is similar to a tablet. This suggests that the device unfolds to look like a tablet with three divided screens. The rumors suggest that the smartphone will be powered by a Kirin 9-series chipset.
The speculations were such that this device would fall under the Mate series and would be unveiled before the Mate 70. But since the launch of Mate 70 was delayed, we expect that the tri-fold smartphone release will also delayed.
Other than the Huawei Mate foldable lineup, Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, Moto Razr lineup, and Vivo X Fold series are also available in the market. But none of them come with a tri-fold design. It will be interesting to see how the company puts a triple fold in the upcoming smartphone.
