OpenAI has recently announced exciting news for ChatGPT users, particularly those using the free tier version of the platform. The company is now extending the ability for free users to generate up to two images daily using DALL-E 3, their advanced generative AI model. The feature was earlier available to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, and is now being made available to a broader audience.
OpenAI took to its X account, where the company shared that free-tier users can now take advantage of this tool to create images based on text prompts. Whether it’s for crafting visuals, designing a custom card, or making an idea a reality, free users can now generate two images each day.
“We’re excited to introduce the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL·E 3,” OpenAI stated. They urged users to experiment with the tool by offering sample prompts.

How Will OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 Help Free Users
DALL-E 3, similar to OpenAI’s GPT-4, is a model that specializes in converting text into a wide array of visual styles, from illustrations to hyper-realistic images. While this new feature provides free users with a taste of the capabilities, unlimited access remains part of the benefits offered to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Moreover, subscribers will gain access to enhanced features like early access to new tools, increased usage limits with GPT-4, and much more.
This update marks a significant step in making gen AI more accessible, enabling several users to explore and utilize the company’s advanced technologies. Meanwhile, the company has also expressed concerns about the potential for users to form emotional attachments to its newly introduced Voice Mode feature in ChatGPT.
These concerns were highlighted in OpenAI’s "System Card" for GPT-4o, a document that explores the risks and measures related to the AI model. One of the key risks identified is the tendency for users to anthropomorphize the chatbot, which means they might start attributing human-like qualities to the AI.

OpenAI To Not Watermark ChatGPT Text To Save Users
OpenAI has a system that watermarks ChatGPT-created text and a tool to detect the watermark ready for almost a year, reports The Wall Street Journal. However, the company is divided internally over whether to release it. On one hand, it seems like the responsible thing to do: on the other, it could hurt something else.
The company’s watermarking is described as adjusting how the model predicts the most likely words and phrases that will follow the old ones, creating a detectable pattern. Offering a way to detect AI-written material could be a boon for teachers trying to stop students from using AI for their assignments.
The Journal reported that the company found watermarking didn’t affect the quality of its chatbot’s text output. In a survey the company said, “People worldwide supported the idea of an AI detection tool by a margin of four to one,” the Journal writes.
