Apple seems to be planning to add a new text effects feature to the iMessage app on iOS 18, according to sources close to the matter (via Macrumors). While the iMessage app already allows users to send iMessages with bubble effects or full-screen effects, such as invisible ink or confetti, the text effects would enable users to animate individual words within a message.
With the iMessage app set to get RCS support with iOS 18, it seems likely the text effects will also work with green bubbles. The company could also add italics, bold, and underlined formatting options alongside the text effects, but that remains to be seen.

Messages App To Get AI Autocompletion Tool
Apart from the text effects and RCS support, the Messages app on iOS 18 will reportedly get an AI-powered autocompletion tool. RCS support will offer users with an improved experience between iPhones and Android devices compared to the current SMS standard.
Similar to iMessage, RCS features higher-resolution photos and videos, audio messages, typing indicators, read receipts, the ability to send messages over a Wi-Fi network, and enhanced functionality for group chats.
