Apple seems to be gearing up to give its biggest overhaul to the Mac mini lineup. The tech giant is said to prepping a new version of the Mac mini, which will be its smallest desktop computer ever.
As per a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this update will mark the first significant design change since Steve Jobs’ era in 2010 and will see the Mac mini shrink to a size comparable to an Apple TV set-top box.
The new Mac mini will be a part of a broader refresh of the company’s Mac lineup, all integrating the Ai-focused M4 processors. These chips, also set to back the upcoming iMac desktops, MacBook Pros, and potentially MacBook Airs, and Mac Pro models, showcase a major shift as the company standardizes its chip generation across all its Mac products for the first time.

What Will New Mac Mini Computers Offer
The M4 processor, already seen on the iPad Pro, is built to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities. Apple has tried out models of the new Mac mini with multiple USB-C ports, an HDMI port, and a power cable connection. The new mini will be available in two versions: a base model with the standard M4 chip and a higher-end variant with the M4 Pro chip, offering more memory and graphics power.
Apple will start updating its Mac lineup with the new M4 chips starting in late 2024 and extending into early 2025. The 24-inch iMac will be upgraded to feature the next-generation M4 chip, expected to enhance AI performance with a potentially improved Neural Engine.
The MacBook Pro lineup could also see an overhaul, with the entry-level 14-inch model receiving the M4 chip, while the 14-inch and 16-inch high-end models with be equipped with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. The Mac mini will be updated to include both M4 and M4 Pro options, aligning with the latest MacBook Pro launches.

Apple TV+ Could Soon Introduce Advertisements
After recruiting several advertising executives earlier this year, Apple is continuing to show signs of an upcoming ad-supported Apple TV+ plan. As per a new report from The Telegraph, Apple has held meetings with a large UK rating body to discuss options for tracking advertising.
The company reportedly sent executives to meet with the Broadcaster’s Audience Research Board (BARB) to discuss additional data collection required for advertising. BARB is a large ratings agency in the UK, and it keeps track of how much time viewers spend watching Apple TV+ content.
A number of competitors such as Disney, Netflix, and Amazon, already work with BARB. The meetings serve as a strong indication that Apple is planning something related to advertising.
