Sifu Added to PlayStation Plus Game Catalog this Month

Developed by Slocap and H2 Interactive, Sifu, a martial art-focused game with an interesting permadeath feature is available on the PlayStation Plus as of March. The game became a part of the PS Plus lineup this year, with gamers excited to begin their journey in one of the most difficult martial arts games of the decade. 

Sifu is not an average fighting game but hides numerous layers of skills that demand mastery in various situations. One must rely on hand-to-hand combat, with occasional uses of martial arts weapons such as sticks and nunchucks. Moreover, the game also features a unique way of handling death, which sets it apart from the rest of the fighting games.

Sifu Joins PlayStation Plus March 2024 Lineup to a Surprised Audience

So far, Sony has introduced plenty of games this month to the PlayStation Plus lineup, including F1 23, Hello Neighbor 2, and Destiny 2 The Witch Queen. However, Sifu's arrival to the catalog was a grand surprise to most gamers as no one expected this hidden gem to be added anytime soon.

Sifu was initially released in 2021 to a mixed audience review, where the game was praised by most hardcore fighting fans, but fell short of garnering a bigger fanbase due to its extremely difficult skill ceiling. When it comes to mastering the game, Sifu comes with a very unique way of handling death, which makes dying a lot more punishable. The title features a permadeath feature, where the player character ages every time they die. After reaching 80 years old one would no longer be able to continue the story if dead, resulting in gamers to restart the campaign. This feature makes the game exceptionally difficult, as some have even stated it as frustrating. 

The game also lets players decide on their gender before they begin the story of avenging their father in the Sifu territory in China. Mixed with parkour and hardcore martial arts, the title offers significant realistic experience in fighting as well. Sifu is a phenomenal roguelite that comes with many possibilities when it comes to turning the gameplay around.
