The same day Apple launched its new iPhones, Samsung brought the latest version of its OneUI and new Galaxy AI features to customers across the globe. One UI 6.1.1 went live for the Galaxy S24 series on September 5, and just four days later, the update is making its way to Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners across the world.
Is this really a coincidence, or did Samsung plan this whole thing to steam Apple’s thunder? Well, it seems like the latter. It looks a little too deliberate to be a coincidence, especially since Samsung doesn’t usually provide specific dates for the rollout of One UI and Android updates, a tradition it chucked for One UI 6.1.1.

What Does The One UI 6.1.1 Update Bring to Table?
With the One UI 6.1.1 update, Samsung is going strong towards its commitment to bring Galaxy AI available to as many users as possible. The tech giant introduced Galaxy AI earlier this year with the Galaxy S24 series, and instead of asking users to upgrade to the new phones to access Galaxy AI, Samsung made it available to its existing customer base through a software update.
And now, while Apple Intelligence is still at a nascent stage, Samsung has introduced a new batch of Galaxy AI features to its customers through the One UI 6.1.1 update. Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners will be the first to get these features, but the company will make One UI 6.1.1 available to all flagship Galaxy phones and tablets launched in 2023.
One UI 6.1.1 will also come to flagship Galaxy devices launched in 2022 before the end of the year. And that’s not all, the company is said to be working on the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 update simultaneously. One UI 7.0 won't bring any AI features, but it will make notable changes to the user interface.

Samsung Galaxy Ring To Soon Trigger Smart Home Features
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is one of the more unique products the South Korean company has launched this year. While the device has received decent reviews across the board, many have called it a half-baked device as of now. However, Samsung will certainly add new features and make it better as time goes on, and one new feature is already known.
At IFA 2024, Samsung had a demo area showing an upcoming integration between the Galaxy Ring and SmartThings, Samsung’s smart home platform. In the demo, users will be able to wave their hand into an enormous model of the Galaxy Ring, which triggers a nighttime SmartThings routine.
