#KojimaContent Earns New Metal Gear Game A Content Warning
This game contains expressions and themes which may be considered outdated, the disclaimer reportedly reads.
“However, these elements have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator’s original vision. Player discretion is advised.” The reference to 'the creator’s original vision' refers to Hideo Kojima who developed the techno-thriller stealth games. Kojima- fell out with Konami during the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain before forming his own independent studio in 2005, named Kojima Productions.
Although it's not clear which scenes the warning refers to, fans think it's addressed towards scenes featuring Venom Snake, who's Big Boss’ body double and the game’s actual protagonist. In the first game, Snake shares a sexually-charged exchange with Dr Naomi and is seen flirting with data analyst Mei-Ling. It could also talk about the homophobic digs at Snake's rival Raiden or the usage of smoking as an in-game feature.
The volume also brings to the table a good dose of supplement content. Each game contains both a digital Screenplay Book along with the entire in-game script and a Master Book that guides players through the story and characters. These can be great resources for first-time players since they offer a deep dive. Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 come with a digital graphic novel; this motion comic was originally released on the PSP and on DVD and is quite difficult to buy
