WhatsApp has brought a new feature that will enable users to share longer voice messages as Status updates. The feature was launched for both iOS and Android versions of the app and users have already started receiving the update on their devices.

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform has been experimenting with several new features lately, including AI-generated profile pictures and an option to clear the count of unread messages. These new features aim to upgrade the overall user experience of the app.

Previously, the platform allowed users to post up to 30-second long voice notes as status updates. Users can do this by navigating to the Status update page, and then tapping and holding the microphone icon. Now, the platform is extending the duration of these voice notes to one minute, a feature that users will find in the latest version of the app.

WhatsApp Rolls Out New Feature For iOS And Android

The feature is already available for use, and users can post one-minute-long voice notes and put them as Status updates. Both iOS and Android users can update the app to get the new feature. The rollout of this feature might offer ease of use to people who were forced to use split-long voice messages to put them on WhatsApp Status.

WhatsApp usually rolls out updates gradually, so for people who still haven’t received this feature on their phones, it’s recommended to update to the latest version of the app. It could take a couple of days for the feature to arrive.

According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the service is also working on several new features. The company reportedly has a “Create with AI” feature in the works, which will allow users to personalize images using AI to match their interests and personality.

More Users To Get WhatsApp’s Chat Lock Feature

In May 2023, Meta rolled out the Chat Lock feature for WhatsApp, which enables users to lock and hide chats using a passcode or biometric authentication. While this is a handy feature, it only works on primary devices.

Thankfully, last month it was reported that the company had started testing Chat Lock on linked devices by releasing it for a select number of users. Well, Meta is now making the feature available to more people.

As per a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android  (version 2.24.11.9) offers the Chat Lock feature on linked devices also. What’s more important, the new feature seems to be available for all users who are using this version of the app instead of making it available for a select few users.
