Instagram has finally revealed that it is making “views” the primary metric across all of its formats, meaning that creators will be able to track the same metric across Reels. Stories, photos, and more. The change will be released in the coming days, as per a post on the platform’s creators account.
“Historically we’ve shown different metrics for Reels vs. other posts, but we want to evolve this so it’s easier to understand how your content is doing regardless of the format,” Instagram chief Adam Mosseri writes in a post.

View Isn’t Similar To Reach Of A Post
Adam Mosseri also said that a view is different than reach because the same person can view the same piece of content multiple times. While views might be the new primary metric, Mosseri also suggests that creators keep an eye on sends per reach. Both are “probably the most important metrics for anybody trying to understand how their content is doing on Instagram,” he added.
Meta has also made views an important metric on Threads. Earlier this year, the company added the ability to tap a Threads post to see its total view count. And since taking over Twitter, now X, Elon Musk has shifted focus on view counts.
Instagram has announced a new multi-track audio support for Reels. The new feature comes days after the platform head Adam Mosseri stated that Instagram would prioritize short-form content over long videos.

Instagram Brings Multi-Audio Track Support For Reels
With the launch of this new functionality for Instagram Reels, users will now be able to add multiple audio tracks in a single Instagram Reel, allowing them to produce creative mixes using their smartphone.
Mosseri announced the rollout of multi-audio track support via a post on the platform, stating that users can add up to 20 tracks to a single Reel, giving users more creative freedom to make content. They can align the audio with text, and edit the Reel with stickers, clips, and other items. The audio clips can also overlap, and the app will generate a fade effect.
Announcing the feature, Instagram said, “With the flexibility to pair the right tracks with the right clips at the right time, one can express their creativity the way that feels right for them and their audience.”
When a user creates a mix, it will be saved with attribution to them. Others will be able to reuse these mixed audi clips as well, according to Instagram. This feature is also available to users in India, but not everyone will see it right away. The platform could be releasing the feature in a gradual manner.
