PS5 users will soon be able to join parties using a simple QR code. Yes, you read that right! An upcoming update seems to be on the way for PlayStation 5, which will bring this functionality to the table.
As suggested in the latest post from PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that in the coming months, it will bring the ability for users to create a shareable link on their PS5 consoles or the dedicated app and send it to other players through messaging apps and social media.
Once another player clicks on the link from the QR code, they’ll be able to instantly join the sender’s multiplayer session, even if they aren’t friends on PS Network.
"This feature is designed to complement existing methods of joining a session from within a PS5 game and is consistent for any supported PS5 game," the post reads. "As this is a new technology, a small percentage of PS5 games may require an update to ensure the session joins will work seamlessly. We’ll collaborate with our development partners to explore the best solutions for those games."

Sony Brings Unique Widget For Playstation
Moreover, PlayStation has also created a “unique widget” for PS5 session invites that players can share on Discord, which will dynamically refresh to show the multiplayer session status, so players will know if the session is still active before they join the party.
The update will also allow users to share their own or another player’s PSN profile on any messaging or social media app by "generating a link" from the PS app, the PS5, or the official web profile.
"These are just a few of the steps we’re taking to make it easier for you to connect with players online and jump into multiplayer sessions together," PlayStation adds.

PS5 Pro Specs Leak Hint At Launch Time
The latest PS5 specs leak has suggested the expected timeline for the launch. The company could be launching the console during Holiday 2024. Going by the launch timeline of PS4 Pro, the console was announced in September 2016 and then hit the market just two months later in November 2016. If Sony follows the same pattern, fans will have to wait a bit longer for any news.
Speaking of PS5 Pro’s pricing, it’s much more guesswork as we have nothing to go on. It was recently seen that the PS5 got a price hike with the company blaming the soaring inflation across the globe.
If we go by the leaked specs, we think that the PS5 Pro won’t follow the same path as the PS4 Pro, which came at the base price of PS4. It’s likely PlayStation 5 Pro could launch at around $599 / £549 / AU$900-1,000.
