The PlayStation Portal is set to receive a couple of new features users have been requesting for a long time. Sony announced on its PlayStation Blog that a software update for its handheld remote player will enable users to connect their devices to public Wi-Fi networks that require sign-in, like free ones seen at cafes and hotels.

Besides, the update also brings new visual cues when you tap or swipe the emulated touchpad areas on the Portal’s display and the option to see a battery percentage indicator in the top-right status bar. Until now, the battery level was only shown by some vague bars, and the actual battery percentage number only shows up when the device is completely turned off and charging.
