In May 2023, Meta rolled out the Chat Lock feature for WhatsApp, which enables users to lock and hide chats using a passcode or biometric authentication. While this is a handy feature, it only works on primary devices.
Thankfully, last month it was reported that the company had started testing Chat Lock on linked devices by releasing it for a select number of users. Well, Meta is now making the feature available to more people.

Who Will Be Able To Use The New WhatsApp Feature?
As per a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.11.9) offers the Chat Lock feature on linked devices also. What’s more important, the new feature seems to be available for all users who are using this version of the app instead of making it available for a select few users.
Currently, there’s no word about when Meta will be releasing this feature available in the stable version of WhatsApp. However, the company is expected to roll out the feature for all users after thoroughly testing it in the beta version of the app, which might take a few weeks.
Back in June last year, Meta launched Channels on WhatsApp, a feature that offers user updates from people and firms that aren’t in the user’s contacts list. Sadly, Channels doesn’t work on linked devices. It means that users won’t be able to see updates from the channels users have followed, find more channels, follow new channels, create a channel, or manage their channels on any device other than their primary device.

WhatsApp Gets A New Design For iOS And Android Phones
WhatsApp seems to have updated its design for both iOS and Android apps. The popular messaging started rolling out the new look for users in a phased-out manner. The new look aims to provide users with a more up-to-date and easier-to-use experience. So what has changed with the app?
One of the biggest changes that has been made to the app is the enhancement of dark mode, which now comes with a darker background to enhance text readability. Similarly, the light mode has been enhanced with additional white space, making for a refreshed look and better usability.
When it comes to the color scheme, the app now offers a new shade of green to fit perfectly with the brand’s identity. Moreover, the utilization of color has been chosen strategically to draw attention to certain elements on the screen, making sure of a more focused user experience.
