It seems like the era of artificial intelligence has arrived and some of the biggest tech companies want a piece of the pie. Some are even looking for new partnerships to amplify their AI capabilities. As a market leader in high-end memory solutions, which is important for AI chips, Samsung finds itself in a similar position.
The South Korean tech giant is already working with companies like NVIDIA on its upcoming AI chips. It seems that Microsoft wants to join forces with Samsung as well, with a top-level meeting slated to happen soon between the two firms.
As per a new report, the head of Samsung’s semiconductor business Kung Kye-hyun has received an invitation from Microsoft to the MS CEO Summit 2024. the summit is scheduled to happen on May 14 in Redmond, Washington.

Microsoft And Samsung Could Work Together In The AI Space
Bill Gates and Satya Nadella are said to have a closed-door meeting with Samsung’s semiconductor boss to explore new avenues of collaboration that promote AI partnerships. The company is said to be interested in opportunities for the joint development and supply of AI chips with Samsung.
Microsoft could also be interested in offering its AI software services on Samsung devices. Most of the processing is done by Google’s AI services in Galaxy AI and Microsoft would want its services to be a part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite which has been loaded on 100 million devices currently and is set to grow in the coming years.
Moreover, Microsoft has also invited the heads of SK Hynix, LG Electronics, and SK Telecom. Experts believe that it’s rare for Microsoft to request the participation of South Korea’s biggest tech firms. It only goes on to show how serious the company is in building partnerships that will help it boost in the field of AI.

Samsung Launches World’s First 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM AI Chip
Samsung has also announced the launch of its fastest LPDDR5X DRAM chip. The new chip is capable of achieving data transfer speeds up to 10.7Gbps, which is compared to the 6.4Gbps LPDDR5X chip that came out in 2021 and the 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM chip launched in 2022.
The latest chip can be used for smartphones, tablets, and even laptops. Samsung has used the 12nm class process technology, which is pretty advanced in the memory segment.
The company claims the new chip is more compact than its rivals and the LPDDR segment, which will enable companies to develop more sleek devices. Besides, the latest chip offers 25% faster performance and 30% higher capacity. Samsung notes the new 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM chip is specifically made to offer better AI inferencing.
