Lenovo is taking a approach for desktop PCs, using high-end laptop chips in them, instead of traditional processors. This means the company is aiming to reduce the costs. It was earlier reported by Chinese tech site IT Home, that Lenovo has a new range of Legion 700K gaming PCs which are developed around an MoDT platform and leverage Intel’s powerful HX series laptop chipsets.

A MoDT or ‘Mobile on Desktop’ means using a mobile (laptop) CPU in the desktop PC’s motherboard. A normal motherboard has a socket for the desktop CPU, but for MoDT PCs, the CPU is built into the motherboard.

That said, it’s not possible to upgrade the processor. However, the other components on this custom MoDT motherboard can still be upgraded as with a normal desktop PC. In all aspects, it will be a desktop PC with slight changes in the type of motherboard that is coupled with the processor. Unfortunately, there’s no release date or pricing available as of now.

The MoDT Concept Is A Hit In China

The MoDT concept has witnessed immense popularity in China, but this seems like a huge leap forward for these kinds of PCs. With Lenovo getting fully on board with the concept -- the biggest PC vendor in the world, users should expect some big advancements.

Moreover, not only is this a normal desktop chassis, but it will also run the chipset with full-on desktop power levels, and therefore performance, with cooling provided by a custom CPU cooler that can keep these chips in check when the temperatures rise during heavy processing.

The result is a desktop PC with a lot of peps, not too far away from a Core i9 desktop chip, especially since the recent hiccups with those products’ stability.

Lenovo Lecco N2721U Gaming Monitor Up For Grabs

Just a few days back, Lenovo took the wraps off the Lecco N2721U gaming monitor. The new monitor is now up for grabs in the Chinese market. The Lenovo Lecco N2721U Gaming Monitor comes with a 27-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) display coupled with a 160 Hz refresh rate. Not just that, it comes packed with other notable features without a heavy price tag.

The Lenovo Lecco N2721U offers an IPS panel with 1ms GtG grayscale response time. The low GtG response time trims down the motion blur and ghosting, allowing users to get a great viewing experience.

The monitor has 10-bit color depth, 98% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and 400 nits of peak brightness. Besides, the Lenovo Lecco N2721U has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and claims to offer excellent clarity and fluid visual dynamics. The company claims it could be used for professional-level design applications as well.
