The iPhone launch event is inching closer, and the interest is eagerly waiting for Apple to provide some official details. Yesterday, the hype reached a new level when a supposed leaked invite for Apple’s September event made made rounds online. The news sent ripples across the tech industry. But as it turns out the invite was a complete hoax.
The invite was initially shared on X by a tipster who recently came into the spotlight for various Apple-related leaks. The image of the invite looked quite convincing, featuring an Apple logo in a bronze hue that matches the rumored new colorway for the iPhone 16 pro models. The tagline, “Ready. Set. Capture.,” had everyone believing that it was a hint towards the rumored Capture button.

Apple iPhone 16 Launch Event Invite Was A Fake
Another X/Twitter user, @lorevfx, has now revealed that they had created the “leaked” invite in under ten minutes using Figma and an AI-generated texture. They admitted to sending it to Majin Bu and shared a timelapse video showing how the viral image was created. They also shared the entire chat, which convinced Majin Bu that the leak was real.
That said, everything was taken in good humor and a good reminder that not everything we see online is what it seems, especially for leaks and rumors. While some leaks might hold some truth, the ease with which sophisticated fakes can be created makes it increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction.
As we wait for Apple’s official announcement, the most credible information known so far is that the event could take place on September 10, based on educated guesses by industry insiders. Alongside the iPhone 16 series, Apple is also said to launch new AirPods models this year. But as always, when it comes to leaks, we recommend our readers take them with a pinch of salt.

iPhone 16 Pro Could Have Darker Black Titanium Color Option
As we inch closer to the launch of Apple’s next flagship smartphone, the iPhone 16 Pro, several leaks and speculations are pouring in at an alarming rate. Now, the launch colors of the iPhones 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have leaked online. Following the footsteps of a leak relating to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, the leak suggests three of four Pro colors, including a much darker Black Titanium option.
In recent weeks, smartphone leaks have mostly focused on the Google Pixel 9 series. However, Apple is also prepping to launch new smartphones, which are expected to directly replace the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company usually distinguishes its Pro and non-Pro iPhones in various aspects, including colors.
