Google has released a live speedometer and speed limit display for Google Maps for iPhones and Apple CarPlay to enhance Google Maps on iOS devices. This feature, introduced for Android devices back in 2019, was expanded to more than 40 countries after initially being limited to select markets in May 2019.
After five years of existing on Android, the company has rolled out this update for iPhone users to help them avoid speeding while driving. Notably, Google Maps introduced these new speeding features in India last week, with the update now rolling out globally.
The new feature is available in Google Maps for iOS version 6.123.0. To access it, iPhone and CarPlay users simply need to open the Google Maps app on their iPhone.

How To Use Speed Limit Feature On Google Maps
To use the new feature, all users need to do is open the app and navigate through it. Now, users need to tap on the profile picture that can be found at the top right corner of the screen. Now, users need to go to settings in the menu and select the “Settings” option.
Now, users need to select navigation and driving options and enable Speedometer/Speed Limit toggles. Now, users need to look for the "Speedometer/Speed Limit" toggles and switch them on. Once enabled, the speed limits feature will be displayed as a circular floating icon in the bottom-left corner of the navigation screen while driving.
According to Google Support, if the speed limit feature is available in a user’s area, they can easily toggle the speedometer on or off by tapping the Speed Limit icon during navigation. In addition, the company is working on new features for Maps to upgrade group travel.
The new speed limit feature is being rolled out in a gradual manner and may take a few days to reach all iPhone users. However, it is still not visible for iPhone users as of now.

Google Is Leveraging Gemini AI To Make Its Robots Smarter
Google’s DeepMind robotics team has published a new research paper that details how it is changing robot navigation using Gemini 1.5 Pro -- one of the company’s advanced AI models.
According to the research paper, Google Gemini 1.5 Pro is using an extended context window. This enables the AI model to process much more information than earlier. What it also does is that it empowers the robots to be more flexible and adaptable by remembering and understanding their environment.
The process of making robots smarter starts with researching and filming video tours of offices, homes, and other surroundings. The robot, backed by Gemini 1.5 Pro, then watches the videos to learn the layout, where things are stored, and get a better idea of the area.
