Ever since Elon Musk took over X (formerly known as Twitter) in 2022, the platform has constantly released new features and tools to make the user experience better. The company has also declared it aims to compete with LinkedIn for job listings and PayPal for payments. Now, in a new development, X developers have confirmed that they might soon launch their new professional video calling feature.
One of the company’s employees and developers Chris Park confirmed this development and posted about the new video conferencing tool. Park also suggested that the initial feedback from the X team was positive, and X will likely work on introducing more features, such as the ability to pin speakers and notifications indicating who has left or joined a call.

How Will X’s Video Conferencing Tool Be Different
Elon Musk recently replied to this tweet with a fire emoji, which confirmed the arrival of the new tool soon. As of now, the platform already has a person-to-person video calls feature with audio broadcasts through X Spaces. However, in the past, X developers have faced technical issues during high-profile Spaces streams.
App research Nima Owji also found this feature earlier this month, posting a screenshot of the ‘X Conference’ tool with push notifications and spatial audio support. He also hinted that the feature will enable users to set a unique code that they can share with the people they are connecting with.
Another app researcher, P4mui also revealed that the feature will allow X users to create new meetings directly from the ‘X Conference’ tool, similar to other online conferencing tools such as Google Meets, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and others.

X To Bring ‘Dislike’ Button For Downvoting Replies
Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter, seems to be working on developing a downvoting feature that will be used to improve how replies are ranked. Although the company has not yet officially announced its plans, more recent findings indicate the downvote feature might actually resemble a “dislike” button instead of a Reddit-style downvote icon.
Code references found in the X iOS app now show a button that shows as a broken heart icon next to X’s heart-shaped “like” button as well as direct references to a “downvote” feature.
Back in 2021, the company tested downvoting, before Elon Musk came into the picture. At the time of the original experiment, however, Twitter had tested both upvoting and downvoting buttons across all posts. The latest tests indicate that X is only considering enabling downvotes on replies, to help showcase the better replies on top of a thread while moving less-liked replies down in the queue.
