Microsoft and Discord are about to improve the integration of the communication platform into Xbox consoles. While users have been able to stream their gameplay to friends over Discord since 2023, they will now be able to watch their friends’ streams whether they are streaming gameplay for a PC, a mobile phone, or an Xbox.
Xbox Insiders will be the first to gain access to viewing Discord streams, with the feature reaching Discord voice calls and in the “happening now” Friends section of the Xbox dashboard. If users’ friends are talking or streaming on a Discord server, the channel will also be shown in this section.

Xbox And Discord Integration Getting Better
Similar to watching streams on the Discord app, users will be able to mute a friend’s stream or control the volume with the Xbox integration. The stream itself will open in full-screen but natively within the Xbox dashboard experience and will not need a dedicated app.
The integration between the two services is being improved to support direct calls to friends, so users won’t have to join a Discord call to get chatting. Microsoft and Discord are also improving the information users see about Discord friends on Xbox, with the ability to see mutual servers and friends and Xbox Gamertags.
Recently, Sony also enhanced its Discord integration on the PS5 to finally enable users to join voice calls directly from the console. The PS5 version still doesn’t have the ability to stream gameplay to friends or watch friends’ streams.

Xbox Could Soon Introduce Google Play Store Rival
Since its long court battle to take over Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s intentions are to create its mobile marketplace on Android and iOS. A newly discovered webpage hints that the mobile store will finally become a reality in the coming days.
In May, Xbox President Sarah Bond confirmed that the Xbox Mobile Store would launch in July 2024. With just a day left in the month, the company seems to have missed the deadline. Although Xbox has yet to make an announcement, fans might be in for a reveal very soon.
First spotted by Klobrille, Xbox has now put up a webpage for the Xbox Mobile Store. The webpage says “Coming Soon” along with a note to Xbox Insiders that reads:
“Thank you for participating in the Xbox Insiders program. As part of our testing process, you have been placed in a holdback group and currently do not have access to this feature. Your support is invaluable to us, and we ask for your patience as we prepare for the public release. Stay connected with Xbox for further updates.”
