Apple has also brought a new way to use Apple Pay on non-Safari desktop web browsers, as reported by MacRumors. It means users will be able to soon use Apple Pay to purchase things on desktop Chrome, Firefox, and even on Windows PCs.

How Will Apple Work On Non-Safari Browsers?

 

Apple showcased how the function works in a WWDC 2024 video for developers. If you are someone who uses a desktop browser app from Safari and sees an Apple Pay button, you will be able to click on that button to summon a special code they can scan with an iPhone running iOS 18. On scanning the code, the users will be prompted to complete the transaction on their iPhone.

 

For desktops, Apple Pay has so far been restricted to Safari on Macs. But thanks to the new update, depending on the browser and hardware they use, they might start looking for more Apple Pay buttons across the web.

 

Apple’s video also offer details for developers on iOS 18’s redesigned event tickets in Apple Wallet. These upgrades and a bunch of others are set to come to iPhones in the coming months.

Apple Announces Its AI Strategy

 

During its annual WWDC event, Apple announced a slew of new AI-backed features in partnership with OpenAI. The company likes to call it “Apple Intelligence,” and it will the company battle the perceptions that it is lagging behind its rivals in the AI race.

 

Apple executives including CEO Tim Cook revealed the new AI features during a two-hour-long keynote at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California. “All of this goes beyond artificial intelligence, it’s personal intelligence, and it is the next big step for Apple,” CEO Tim Cook said. Apple also overhauled its virtual assistant Siri, which will be capable of hundreds of more tasks using ChatGPT.

 

Apple users will now be able to create their emojis based on language prompts and create summaries of emails in the mailbox through the tech giant’s in-house technology. Apple hinted that it would differentiate itself from rivals Google and Microsoft by putting privacy “at the core” of AI, which is known for using huge amounts of data.
