The last few weeks have been pretty quiet in terms of iPhone 16 leaks, but a new rumor from the Apple supply chains corroborates something we’ve been hearing for a while. The rumor suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro will also feature a 5x optical zoom camera like the 16 Pro Max.
According to a report from DigiTimes (via 9to5Mac), key suppliers have landed more orders for iPhone tetraprism periscope lenses from Apple. Those are the lenses that are capable of offering more depth while fitting in a compact form factor. In 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro Max model was exclusive to this feature. The smaller handset comes with a 3x optical zoom camera sensor.
It would make sense for both Pro models to feature the same camera setup, which would then give consumers a straight between the two sizes. It’s looking increasingly likely that it will be the case in 2024, but nothing can be said for sure right now.

Will the iPhone 16 Pro Have Same Cameras As iPhone 15 Pro?
Considering this report, it looks like these new camera lenses are the same as we saw on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, rather than new and improved ones with the same zoom capability -- so the iPhone 16 Pro Max camera setup might be similar to its precursor.
However, there have been whispers about the main camera and the ultra-wide camera on the iPhone 16 Pro Max will witness an upgrade. There are three rear cameras and the Pro and the Pro Max models in Apple’s iPhone line-up.
In 2023, we came across rumors that the iPhone 16 Pro Max might set a new benchmark to 10x optical zoom, but that sounds less likely to happen, The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, for comparison, offers 5x optical zoom too. Undoubtedly there are going to be more rumors and leaks between now and the launch, when the 2024 iPhones are due to hit the markets.

Apple To Reportedly Power All iPhone 16 Models With A18 Chip
Apple’s iPhone strategy is reportedly about to get a major overhaul. Apple fans might get to see all four iPhone 16 models get powered by the same processor. A leak discovered by Nicolás Alvarez suggests all four iPhone 16 models could ditch the tiered chipset system and go for a single heart - the A18 chip.
The news comes after months of rumors hinting that Apple could go ahead with a unified chip strategy this time. The fresh leaked code changes within the company’s internal systems now suggest five new iPhone models, each seemingly equipped with the A18 chip.
Usually, there’s a connection between iPhone model identifiers and the processor used. In the iPhone 15 lineup, for instance, the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus featured the A16 Bionic chip, while the Pro models came with the more powerful A17 Pro.
