Apple Intelligence is undoubtedly the biggest highlight of iOS 18, backing native AO features into the operating system. While the tech likely won’t come out until October, Apple has already rolled out the features in the iOS18.1 beta. One of the advantages is AI summaries in the Mail app.
With this useful AI feature, users will be able to save a lot of time by determining emails’ importance at a glance. However, it seems the feature is not fully ready and users could get locked out of their accounts, and even lose money to scams. Yes, Apple Intelligence is unable to differentiate between phishing and legitimate emails.

Apple Intelligence Unable To Detect Scams
As per multiple Reddit users, the AI-powered filter in the Mail app is marking scam emails as a priority. This could mean that the technology categorized emails based only on their texts, disregarding the senders’ addresses and other relevant signals.
The phishing issues have always existed on Apple Mail, as its automatic junk email detection doesn’t always work effectively. However, the company’s AI significantly worsens the issue by not only leaving phishing emails in the inbox but also highlighting them as a priority. Unsuspecting users could rush to take action and might end up losing their money.
It is understandable that Apple Intelligence will launch to the public as a beta product and that this behavior occurs on the OS’ first developer beta. So, while bugs are certainly expected, it’s imperative to shed light on flaws of this caliber. If the company leaves this unimpressed by the time iOS 18.1 launches, the consequences could be catastrophic.
Apple Mail can already identify verified email addresses of certain companies. Perhaps the company could incorporate this factor into its AI filters to determine whether users’ accounts truly need urgent attention.

IOS 18 Will Let You Recover Corrupt, Deleted Media Files
Apple is reportedly adding a new “Recovered” Photo album to the iPhone’s Photos app with the iOS 18 update. As per a report from 9To5Mac, Apple is rolling out the new feature to the beta version of iOS 18.
This feature will let users see and recover previously damaged or lost images that are still stored on the device’s internal storage. The report stated that the new “Recovered” album will be available on the Photos app for select iPhones, iPads, and Macs that are eligible for the iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia updates.
For devices that have already received the new Photos album, the feature can identify and locate previously lost or damaged media, including both videos and photos. These media files will then be available in the new “Recovered” album, which exists alongside the existing "Recently Deleted" section.
