Apple Expected To Increase 2024 iPad Pro Price Ahead Of May 7 Launch

Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple is planning to give iPad sales a push by launching new Pro models in May. The new lineup will come with OLED displays. But, as they say, good things come at a cost. So, be prepared to see high-end prices. Previously, the company positioned the iPad as a sleeker alternative to laptops. However, the product got stuck between the large-screen iPhones and the powerful Macs, which are already slim.

Even though iPads failed to leave a mark last year, with a 24% drop in sales, they still managed to rule the tablet segment across the globe. The Pro lineup, specifically, needs a push and could bring back Apple in the tablet game.

When Is Apple Launching The 2024 iPad Pro?

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the hold-up with the 2024 iPad Pro release is because Apple is struggling to mass-produce OLED displays that meet their high standards of quality.

If rumours are to be believed, Apple delayed the 2024 iPad Pro launch from March to May. As per Gurman's sources, the announcement might happen during the first week of May.

Apple usually launches its iPads quietly on a Tuesday through a simple press release rather than a grand unveiling. So, if things go as suggested, we might see the 2024 iPad Pro announced and released on Tuesday, May 7.

How Much Will The 2024 iPad Pro Cost?

Apple had long been planning about an OLED iPad Pro. Previously, the company wasn’t sure about OLED screens’ quality and value for their top-tier iPads, aimed at power users.

However, with OLED panels advancing significantly in brightness, color accuracy, and durability, Apple has identified it as an opportunity to provide even more value to its iPad users.

The 2024 iPad Pro is rumoured to feature dual-stack OLED technology. This means it uses two layers of organic material, ensuring a lifespan of over a decade without any degradation and double the usual brightness levels. LG is currently leading the way in this technology, using it in applications like the Mercedes EQS Hyperscreen for longer lifespan and brighter displays.

Samsung is also in the running, but it's unclear if they've managed to secure a spot in the supply chain for the 2024 iPad Pro with sufficient yield and quality. However, making dual-stack panels is more challenging and costly.

This seems to have pushed Apple to jack up the price of the 2024 iPad Pro. With all the other upgrades like the M3 processor, slimmer design, upgraded camera, and Max Safe wireless charging, the price increase could be pretty hefty.
