Nike has hinted that it may soon drop a collection of sneaker nonfungible tokens (NFTs) in Fortnite. Nike has recently taken to its social media channels to announce the “ultimate Sneakerhunt’, set to begin on June 20. In a teaser video, Fortnite’s and Nike’s Air Max logos are featured against a backdrop of floating clouds in the sky. The name of the upcoming sneaker hunt is Airphoria as per the video. It also features Nike’s famous Swoosh logo for its Web3 platform alongside Epic Games’ Unreal Engine logo.

Very few details are available about the new release at this stage. But this collaboration is one of the most significant ones in the decade. Members of the NFT community have been speculating that Nike will explore an NFT-related game using Fornite Creative 2.0, which grants players access to develop virtual island maps, game modes, animations, and more.l

Nike launched.SWOOSH, as a web3-enabled platform; it’s the home of Nike’s virtual creations and paves the way for a new, inclusive digital community. The platform allows Nike Members to learn, collect merch and also help co-create virtual creations, many of which are interactive digital objects such as virtual shoes or jerseys.

It would make sense for Nike to develop an NFT-related game with the help of Fortnite Creative 2.0 which promises more interactive experiences. In April Nike launched its first NFT drop in the .Swoosh Web3 community platform. The collection, Our Force 1 (OF1), featured virtual sneaker NFTs designed to pay tribute to the iconic Nike Air Force 1 sneaker. On June 1, .SWOOSH announced its plan to integrate NFTs into games developed by EA Sports. Although the specific EA Sports games that will feature Nike NFTs have yet to be disclosed, the collaborations are introducing Web3 technology to a huge audience of gamers, considering Fortnite has had 242.9 million active players in the last 30 days, according to Active Player.
