In the Open Beta, players can test various in-game items like balls, kits, gloves, boots and stadiums. Players can also complete quests and challenges and earn rewards by progressing in the game. Since the Open Beta is available to play, fans can expect the game to be released in the final quarter of 2024. UFL was first announced at Gamescom 2021 with a teaser trailer and was initially scheduled to be released in 2022 and 2023.
Despite the delays, UFL managed to grab football fans' attention when the Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo joined UFL funding with $40 million in December 2023. Ronaldo's arrival gave Strikerz the much-needed funding and popularity, helping them finally release the Open Beta by June 2024. The aim behind UFL is to take on EA Sports FC's popularity amongst football fans. Since the upcoming EA Sports FC 25 is expected to be released around September, Strikerz will try to launch UFL before FC 25's arrival, which could be in August 2024.
