Ubisoft's hero-based first-person shooter XDefiant, finally has a release date after months of delays. XDefiant was officially announced for the first time in July 2021, under the Tom Clancy tag. However, Ubisoft removed the tag in 2022 for official reasons. That being said, the hero-based multiplayer PvP shooter still has factions from the Tom Clancy Ubisoft games, such as Ghost Recon, The Division, and Splinter Cell.
Fast forward to 2024, after several delays and Beta sessions for fans, XDefiant has finally confirmed an official release for later this month. The title has been through many changes since last year, and according to Ubisoft, it is ready to come out of the curtains.

Ubisoft's XDefiant Set to Release Later This Month as Officially Confirmed by Developers
XDefiant had an official release date scheduled for October last year; however, due to the public test results, the title was delayed once more as developers were asked to make more changes to the title before it could have a global launch.
XDefiant will be released on May 21, 2024, and will be available via Ubisoft Connect for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. With the release date out, PC gamers are still wondering if the title will be available via Epic Games or Steam. XDefiant will be a free-to-play first-person shooter from Ubisoft that is set to rival Call of Duty with its intense hero-based gameplay and fast-paced gun combat. The title will feature maps from various Ubisoft games, including Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and The Division.
Fans have only seen a few maps since the Beta sessions. As Ubisoft promised, the game will feature five different game modes and 14 maps on release. As for weapons, players will have access to 24 weapons and 44 attachments, available to all five of the playable factions. One of the most important elements of XDefiant is the factions, as each delivers a unique ability to alter the gameplay. These abilities are taken from various Ubisoft games, which cater to both tactical and aggressive playstyles.
The available factions in XDefiant are as follows:
- Libertad (Far Cry 6)
- Phantoms (Ghost Recon: Future Soldier)
- Echelon (Splinter Cell)
- Cleaners (The Division)
- DedSec (Watch Dogs)
All the factions are well known to Ubisoft fans who have played through their single-player titles before. For gamers coming across them for the first time, XDefiant features an information tab on each of them for interested players.
