As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft dropped a 45-minute look into the gameplay of Bethesda’s upcoming RPG outing, Starfield, alongside a limited edition Starfield Xbox controller. Last year, fans got a 15-minute glimpse of Starfield gameplay at Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda showcase. But the new in-depth look sheds more perspective into the game which is being dubbed as 'Skyrim in space,' by game director Todd Howard. The game drops on September 6 this year.
Bethesda's Starfield Gets a 45-Minute Gameplay Deep Dive
The trailer features a thorough exploration of many aspects of combat, weapons and modes. The main plot of focused on the familiar group of space explorers, known as Constellation, who works in New Atlantis, which according to Bethesda is the biggest city the developer has ever built. Fans already know that the game features a whopping 1,000 planets which are all open for players.
One of the most intriguing features is the fact that gravity works differently on each planet, which will affect gameplay. Ships are key to each quest and according to Bethesda, they can be customised fully with purchasable upgrades. Player choice plays a big role in the gameplay. Interestingly, the persuasion system is influenced by your stats.
Players can choose from different professional backgrounds for their characters and their personality may be linked to their builds. The detailed trailer is quite immersive and offers a look into several key character builds. The Constellation Edition kit of Starfield comes with an actual, functional watch modelled after the one you get in-game. Bethesda reportedly made the watch which acts as part of your HUD and comes in a special case modelled after cases from the Apollo era. The watch can also be connected to your phone. The kit also features Starfield Base Game, Shattered Space Story Expansion (upon release), Constellation Skin Pack: Equinox Laser Rifle, Spacesuit, Helmet and Boost Pack, Access to Starfield Digital Artbook & Original Soundtrack, Steelbook Case, a Constellation Patch and a lot more
