Prince of Persia The Lost Crown: Free Demo Announced at The Game Awards
The Prince of Persia franchise has gone through some ups and downs in its long history of generation-defining classics for various consoles. The Prince of Persia franchise has come a long way since its gorgeous 1989 2D action-platforming roots.
In a surprising turn of events, the series returns to its 2D action-platforming roots with Prince of Persia the Lost Crown. The game is slated to release on the 18th of January 2024. The free demo of this game has been announced to launch on the 11th of January 2024. The game will be available on all gaming consoles including the Nintendo Switch. Below are some details about what the players should know:
- Brand New Protagonist: The new entry in the series ditches the titular prince in favour of a new protagonist Saron. Saron is part of the Immortals a team of Young and Reckless Heroes who are on a mission to rescue the new Titula prince, Prince Hassan who has gone missing in a mysterious new area in the game.
- 2D Gameplay: This game is returning to the real roots of Prince of Persia cementing its core gameplay Loop in 2D action platforming. 2D Platformers have come a hell of a long way since 1989 and thankfully this latest entry into the franchise looks to be taking a lot of inspiration from games that have modernized that genre.
- Time Manipulation: Time manipulation has been a unique selling point of the Prince of Persia series since the Sands Of Time launched in 2003. In the trailer that Ubisoft has dropped, it's hinted that Sargon is not the only one who will be wielding the power of time travel
