2K's NBA 2K24, released on September 8, 2024, already made it to Steam's list of negative-reviewed games by being the second-worst reviewed title on the platform. The game received backlash from the PC community for various reasons, including a lack of updated features despite being a current-gen game.
Currently, NBA 2K24 ranks just behind Overwatch 2, with the latter garnering more negative reviews since its launch on Steam last month. According to fans, the game's PC version is primarily receiving backlash due to being based on the older-gen consoles, i.e., PS4 and Xbox One, instead of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

NBA 2K24 Garners the Second-most Negative Reviews on Steam Since Launch
The game lacks significant visual polish and has barely improved in gameplay since its last installment. This had been a considerable cause for PC users not to enjoy the title after its release. NBA 2K24's PC version is also missing a lot of current-gen console features, like the ProPLAY. The game's official website celebrates popular features like the ProPLAY, which allows one to translate NBA footage into NBA 2K24 gameplay, and the career mode called The W.
These modes are only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Despite being a feature available on the current-gen platforms, 2K decided not to transfer them to the game's PC version. According to multiple Steam reviews, the gameplay and animations for 2K24 are unchanged from its previous versions. Meaning fans have seen minimal improvements in these sectors, making the title an overwhelmingly negative reviewed game on Steam with a $60 price tag.
While the previous installments also gathered mixed reviews on Steam, fans still appreciated the constant upgrades the titles brought. However, with NBA 2K24, PC players have expressed their disappointments deeply as the title lacks a plethora of crucial features. Currently, there has yet to be any word from the developers regarding an update for the title. However, 2K can possibly add essential features like ProPlay to the PC version.
