Major Ubisoft Game Delayed to Next Fiscal Year; Fans Speculate it to be Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft has recently delayed a large game that will now launch in the next fiscal year. The planned title was originally set to launch before March 2024; however, due to major financial issues faced by the French publishers, the game now possibly has a release window for the next fiscal year. Fans speculate the title to be the big Star Wars Outlaws, as it was presented on the screen of the Xbox Games Showcase back in June 2023. That said, the title name is still under the curtains as Ubisoft has not disclosed anything regarding it.

The publisher stated the delay was mainly due to its recent financial report of the first half of this fiscal year, causing the game to be delayed.

Ubisoft Delayed Large Game To Next Fiscal Year Following Recent Financial Report

Although Ubisoft did not specifically reveal the title's name that they delayed, gamers believe the game to be Star Wars Outlaws. A recent Ubisoft statement reads that the overperformance in the second quarter of 2023 and the current positive momentum of the company's brands build confidence for the rest of the year.

The statement also confirms that its announced guidance of strong top-line growth and non-IFRS operating income is approximately €400

million. These results were gathered without releasing the other large game Ubisoft had initially planned during the last quarter of the ongoing fiscal year.

Ubisoft's statement also stated that the French company has decided to launch its other large project in the next fiscal period, FY2024-25, as it will maximize its value creation in the eyes of the corporation, as well as the developers. Since Star Wars Outlaws was reported in May 2023 as one of the massive Ubisoft projects for the time being, with a colossal open world and a brand-new Star Wars story, it reinforced the speculations for the 'large game' since the last announcement.
