How to Open the Starfield The Lock Prison Cache in Cell D-02-106

The Echoes of the Past quest in Starfield is one of the most tricky missions one can encounter in their space adventure. While the mission is relatively simple compared to some of the other main questlines in the game, it can still confuse players when unlocking the prison cache in the D-02-106 cell. Opening the supply is an optional objective; however, one will find helpful items to aid them in their journey.

This article will briefly guide players in unlocking the Weapon Case in the D-02-106 cell in Starfield's Echoes of the Past mission.

Unlocking D-02-106 in Starfield's Echoes of the Past Mission

After starting the Echoes of the Past questline, one must progress until the D-block area. The D-02-106 cell is in the D-block area inside the prison cell in Starfield. Once in prison, the player must go to the D-block Guard Post Workstation.

​Interact with the console

​Upon entering the workstation, one must interact with the Guard Post Workstation console to unlock the Section 02 Switch gate in the Security block. The control options are in the second folder on the list, right below Prisoner Records. 

​Locate Cell D-02-106 Switch

After unlocking the switch, one must exit the Guard Post and head down using the staircase. After heading downwards near the Kitchen, the player must take the stairs to the left, leading them to the Security door. Upon entering, one can simply flip the switch to activate the D-Block Section 02 cell release.

​Opening the Prison Cache

Once Cell D-02-106 is unlocked, one can simply follow the blue marker back to the cell and open the weapon case inside it. The items inside the case are random; however, one will find a highly modified weapon with unique attachments. This weapon will likely become an endgame utility for players as well. Once the weapon is acquired, players can transfer the item to their ship or take it, depending on their inventory management.
