Bethesda's latest space RPG, Starfield, is filled with various primary and side quests that players can complete throughout their playthrough. Each quest brings a different experience for the player as they are carefully handcrafted to deliver mini stories about the universe. While finishing the quests, players may find themselves stuck in a puzzle and need assistance.

One of these early side quests is the Tapping the Grid questline that asks the player to help Louisa Reyez track a power drain in The Well. Finishing the quest early on in the game can be tricky, but it is worth it for the 75 XP.

Powering Down the Junction Boxes in Starfield's Tapping the Grid Side Quest

There are a total of four Junction Boxes players need to power down in the Tapping the Grid quest in Starfield. The boxes are in specific areas of The Well. The player needs to shut down the boxes to help Reyez track down the power drain.

Here's how you can find all the four boxes and shut them down:

Junction Box 1 Location

Tapping the Grid Starfield Quest first Junction Box

The first Junction Box is near the elevator to Terrabrew inside The Well. To find the panel, the player must find the New Atlantis info terminal from the starting point of the location. Upon turning left, one will see the board right in front.

Junction Box 2 Location

Tapping the Grid Starfield Quest second Junction Box

The second panel is on the floor above the dive bar in The Well. After passing Jake's, the player must take a left turn and go up. From the sealed door, one can take a right and go towards the end of the hallway. A panel can be interacted with right next to the second sealed door, which will help unlock the gate. After that, the second box will be in front.

Junction Box 3 Location

Tapping the Grid Starfield Quest third Junction Box

The third box can be found right before the dive bar in The Well. One can head to the open area and spot the panel opposite the square.

Junction Box 4 Location

Tapping the Grid Starfield Quest fourth Junction Box

The fourth and final Junction Box can be difficult to find. As briefed by Louisa, one will have to head near the Trade Commission area. Upon heading there, the player must ignore the Commission offices and keep going straight until finding a staircase. On the floor above, one can see the room of the fourth box and must listen to Louisa's comment on the boxes.

One will need to turn on all four green lights using the four breakers in front. Testing out each combination can take some time, but one only needs to turn on the boxes at the far left and the far right. After it is done, the gate to the final panel will open, where the player can shut down the last Junction Box.  After turning off all the Junction Boxes, one can head back to Louisa to earn 75 XP and unlock the second phase of this quest.
