Considered the world's largest event for computer and video games and Europe's largest business platform for the games industry, Gamescom 2023 will be held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany and hosts game premieres, cosplay events, e-sports tournaments, stage shows, panels and also offers a look at upcoming titles.
This year the event will be held from August 23 to 27 and has promised a strong line-up featuring some of the biggest names. The Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase was hosted and produced by gaming journalist Geoff Keighley. The show can be streamed on August 22 at 8p CEST / /2p ET / 11a PT (the viewing platforms are yet to be announced).
It was reported earlier this year that Gamescom 2023 has already seen a 10 per cent increase in the number of companies. The event is also promising greater internationality this year with exhibitors from 60 countries.

Gaming Bigwigs Say Yes To Gamescom, From Microsoft To Nintendo
The event got a boost last month when Xbox announced that it will host its biggest booth to date at the event where attendees will be able to preview games like Starfield and Forza Motorsport and get their hands on upcoming Xbox Series X games like Stalker 2 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Xbox & Bethesda’s largest release of 2023, Starfield, will launch just two weeks after the show, on September 6. Forza Motorsport, on the other hand, will release on October 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Nintendo is making its return to Gamescom after 2019. Though the biggest Nintendo games of 2023, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4, are already out, it's possible that Nintendo will showcase unreleased titles. Sony will reportedly be skipping the show this year. 4A Games, the studio behind the popular Metro series, will also be present at this year's Gamescom event as an exhibitor. A new Metro game has been confirmed to be in development and the Metro Exodus sequel is reportedly set to be released sometime next year. A few weeks ago, Bandai Namco Europe announced its lineup for Gamescom featuring Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS, Park Beyond, SAND LAND, and Tekken 8, as well as other 'thrilling surprises.'
Konami has announced it's bringing the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG to Gamescom 2023 for a Master Duel. The cosplay contest scheduled for August 26 will be moderated by German drag performer Aria Addams. The gross exhibition area will increase by 10,000 square meters and the total space will be around 230,000 square meters. The expansion is mainly due to the addition of Hall 1, which has been tagged the 'social area' with creator co-working space and signing area.
"Last year Gamescom celebrated a great comeback thanks to its unique community and strong support from many game companies. This year we're going one step further because Gamescom is growing in many different areas. I am particularly pleased that we are getting so much encouragement from the industry and that this year there are large companies that have been on hiatus for the past few years. But the fact that our further opening up to industry-related companies, for example from the field of streaming, is beginning to bear fruit also shows the great appeal of Gamescom," said Tim Endres, Director of Gamescom at Koelnmesse.
