New York City-based game publisher Rockstar Games is currently hosting a recruitment drive in India for artists and game testers in New Delhi. The company is famed for their open-world titles, particularly Grand Theft Auto (GTA) and hosted a similar recruitment drive in Bengaluru in April where they hired animators, artists and game testers from the country. It’s possible that Rockstar is looking to ramp up development on title titles across the board amid their new GTA Online expansions.
Rockstar just dropped its new free expansion for GTA Online, San Andreas Mercenaries which removed over 180 cars and motorcycles from in-game stores. This move has been slammed by fans especially as several of these cars have been placed behind a GTA+ paywall. The company also announced that upgraded Hangars in GTA’s new expansion can now store and customise the Avenger and upgrade arms using the Mk II Weapon Workshop and dropped new land-based Source and Sell Missions for players who prefer the driver’s seat. But fans have been flocking to the brand’s social media to ask for the cars back.
Rockstar Games Co-Founder Dan Houser Has Something New Up His Sleeve
In related news, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser recently announced a new company called Absurd Ventures. Reports suggest that the new company aims to create new IP across all platforms and for all formats. The announcement of the new venture was accompanied by an unusual announcement trailer on YouTube featuring an assortment of erratic videos.
As per the release, Absurd is "building narrative worlds, creating characters, and writing stories for a diverse variety of genres, without regard to medium, to be produced for live-action and animation; video games and other interactive content; books, graphic novels, and scripted podcasts." It's not entirely clear what kind of projects Absurd Games will feature on its roster since it has not dropped any teasers yet.
