Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test Official Release Notes: Molotov Changes, Audio Fixes, and Netcode Adjustments

Valve has officially pushed a Counter-Strike 2 update on September 13, 2023. CS2's Limited Test has been under a lot of scrutiny recently since Valve officially expanded the invites for more eligible players. The developers have been constantly pushing out updates, fixing and tweaking many features for the title before its full launch. With the latest patch update, Valve has introduced various fixes for Counter-Strike 2, including grenade adjustment, sound fixes, and gameplay tweaks.

Official Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test September Release Notes

 

 

On September 13, Valve released a new update alongside the Release Notes for the patch:

 

Map Fixes

  • Various bug fixes and tweaks for all shipped maps

Gameplay Fixes

  • Various fixes for Molotov/incendiary grenades
  • Various fixes for smoke grenades
  • Fixed damage indicators for fire damage
  • Adjusted first-person sniper contrails to reflect shot accuracy
  • Various adjustments to lag compensation
  • Replaced player elevation indicators on the radar with look directions

Premier Matchmaking Fixes

  • Various bug fixes and tweaks to UI elements

Sound Fixes

  • Audio mix changes and tweaks
  • Lowered occlusion and distance effects for gunfire, footsteps, and reloads
  • Slight increase in stereo spread
  • Fixed a bug where incorrect footstep and jump land sounds would play on elevated edges
  • Fixed a bug where music would stop playing at the end of deathmatch

Miscellaneous

  • Changed armor number in the buy menu from the amount you currently have to the amount you can buy
  • Various fixes for weapon finishes, gloves, and stickers
  • Water rendering performance improvements
  • Added nametag positions for all knife models
  • Allow adjusting individual player voice volumes
  • Various HUD bug fixes and tweaks
  • Added option to disallow animated avatars
  • Removed several legacy networking covers that existed in CS: GO but never had an effect in CS2

 

On September 1, Valve officially expanded the invites to more eligible CS: GO players given they can fit the criteria for the invites. The same update brought many changes to the title and introduced Inferno to the Premier map pool. While the community is happy with Valve's proactive updates to Counter-Strike 2, many have raised concerns about the title after trying it out. Valve is actively monitoring feedback and will take the next few months to iron out the game's issues.
