Cloud Streaming for PlayStation 5 Ready to Launch this Month

The PlayStation 5 cloud streaming service will launch in October 2023 and be available to PlayStation Plus Premium members. Sony Interactive Entertainment has recently announced their plans to release the cloud streaming service for PlayStation 5. According to the Japanese corporation, the cloud-streamed PS5 games service will launch in Japan, Europe, and North America in October.

 

This is a huge step forward for Sony's latest console, as gamers can access a vast library through cloud streaming. One can also expect more PS5 titles to support the new service.

Sony to Enable Cloud Streaming Service for PlayStation 5 From This Month

 

 

Fans who only subscribe to the PlayStation Plus Premium can enjoy the cloud streaming perk through their PS5 console. The premium subscription is also the most expensive PlayStation Plus tier. 

 

According to Sony's official statement, each region will have a separate launch date. The release date per region is as follows:

  • Japan: October 17, 2023
  • Europe: October 23, 2023
  • North America: October 30, 2023

 

SIE's Senior Vice President for platform experience, Hideaki Nishino, stated that only select PS5 games will be available for streaming after the initial launch of the cloud streaming service. However, Sony plans to have hundreds of PS5 titles to support the new benefit.  The streaming will support various titles from the Game Catalogue, such as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11, and Saints Row IV. With a wide array of PlayStation exclusives in the list, the cloud streaming service becomes an appealing benefit for many PS users across the community. 

 

Sony has also mentioned that some PS5 digital titles, such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Island 2, and Genshin Impact, will also be available for streaming. Additionally, gamers can also expect game trials for PS5 titles like Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Calisto Protocol. Sony will also add DLC and in-game purchases through PS5 streaming as the service becomes more known. 

 

What Other Features Will the PlayStation 5 Cloud Streaming Offer?

The cloud streaming service will include various resolution options: 4K, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p, with 60 FPS alongside SDR and HDR output. The streaming will support all PS5 audio ports from 5.1 to 7.1. Fans can also expect the latest Tempest 3D Audiotech moving forward with the streaming. With multiple features promised, fans expect a smooth cloud streaming experience with PlayStation 5's cutting-edge hardware.
