Assassin's Creed Mirage is one of the year's biggest releases and judging from the gameplay we've seen so far, it looks like longtime fans of the series are in for a treat. A new behind-the-scenes Dev Diary from the game's development showcases the game's focus on parkour and traversal reminiscent of fan-favourite titles in the series such as Assassin's Creed II.

The gameplay footage revealed also reveals key information about the sort of environment players will find themselves in. The game world is populated by a lot of NPCs and the streets are much narrower than players have come to expect. This will effectively result in a ton of obstacles while running through the city, which means more opportunities for players to chain together incredibly satisfying parkour moves.

Longtime fans of the series are positively cheery about the prospect of returning to the series' action-stealth route and Assassin's Creed Mirage seems to be hitting all the right notes so far. The game comes out on October 12, 2023, and is poised to be one of the year's biggest releases.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Could be a Game-Changer for the Franchise

Assassin's Creed Mirage isn't necessarily a creative gamble the way AC Origins or the subsequent releases were, but it is still an incredibly important title for both the publisher and the audience. For the publisher, the success of the game could mean that more projects in its vein could be greenlit, giving way to a whole slew of stealth-action games.

For the audience, Assassin's Creed Mirage is the game that they have been clamouring for, for years. Even though the AC franchise has been doing incredibly well in terms of sales, there has been a growing level of concern regarding the franchise's action-RPG route. For the most part, the games have been received positively, but longtime fans have been alienated to a large degree as the series doesn't quite resemble the original games in any shape or form.

While the idea of the franchise is growth and evolution, fans believe Assassin's Creed may have strayed too far from the path. It will be interesting to see how fans react to Assassin's Creed Mirage and whether the stealth-action style can reap major rewards yet again.
