Assassin's Creed Codename Jade is an upcoming free-to-play Assassin's Creed RPG, set for release on Android and iOS. The game is one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the year on mobile and Ubisoft looks to break new ground on the platform by offering a full-fledged RPG to players on mobile. Ubisoft is holding the first closed beta for the game on August 3, 2023 - allowing players a chance to take a peek behind the curtain and see what Ubisoft has in store. Players can register for the closed beta through the official game site.
The game is scheduled for release later this year and the team at Ubisoft is probably looking to iron out all the kinks before its release date. The game is being developed by Level Infinite, a division of Tencent. Ubisoft announced a partnership with the Chinese tech giant, Tencent, in a bid to capture a major portion of the mobile games industry. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and whether the fan reception to Assassin's Creed Codename Jade is positive enough to set up the groundwork for a Ubisoft takeover in the mobile game space.

Assassin's Creed Codename Jade is One of the Most Important Games in Ubisoft's Roadmap
While Assassin's Creed has predominantly been a mainstay on PC and Consoles, its foray into mobile has only consisted of side-scrollers that didn't really set the world alight. Considering that the mobile games industry dwarfs both the console and PC industries by a massive margin, it only makes sense for Ubisoft to try and make a play to capture a big portion of it. Assassin's Creed Codename Jade is likely part of a larger plan where Ubisoft will experiment with other major franchises on mobile.
So far, Ubisoft has announced The Division: Resurgence, which brings the co-op multiplayer action of the franchise to mobile. Codename Jade is probably the publisher's most high-profile release on mobile to date and a lot of hopes rest on the game to do well. Ubisoft has been fairly aggressive with its push on mobile but it faces stiff competition in the space. Namely, from existing titans of the industry like Krafton, Garena, and Activision Blizzard. Although the task is quite daunting, with massive IPs to boast of such as Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell - maybe Ubisoft can capture a big slice of the pie.
