Meta is adding another AI element to WhatsApp, this time through a new image creation tool. Which will allow users to place themselves within imaginary scenes for their profile pic. According to Android Authority, Meta is developing a new “Imagine Me” feature in WhatsApp, which will let users create Ai-powered variations of their profile image, based on text prompts.
To activate the process, users would simply upload a selfie, or a collection of selfies, then type in “Imagine me...” and the setting of their choice.
As per Android Authority: “Although not available yet, a leaked screenshot of the feature indicates that you’ll be asked to upload a handful of reference selfies when you first opt into the feature. The Meta AI chatbot will then create new images that “imagine” yourself in different environments “like a forest or outer space”.”

Is WhatsApp Copying Snapchat’s Feature?
The process on WhatsApp seems very similar to Snapchat’s “Dreams” selfie generation tool. Dreams are pretty much the same thing, allowing users to generate AI variations of themselves, with the process then placing their face into different scenarios and personas.
It seems like an interesting addition to WhatsApp, offering more creative options to the platform’s billions of users. But it’s not exactly a game-changer, and it still feels like users are waiting for a great use case for AI within social and messaging apps. Meta also added its AI chatbot to Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, back in April, but it doesn’t feel like a transformative add-on as of now.
Meta’s also looking for the option to create an AI version of yourself, as it seems to become a leader in the AI space. It seems like Meta really needs to find a more valuable use case for AI, considering that it’s investing billions of dollars into the development of its AI models.

WhatsApp To Bring New Pro-Level Features For Video Calls
WhatsApp is among the most popular video-calling apps out there, and it is set to receive some major upgrades to its video-calling capabilities. Meta has announced three new features that could potentially make WhatsApp a great video conferencing alternative to platforms like Zoom.
One of the biggest additions is screen sharing with audio, a feature that will allow users to share not only their screens but also the audio accompanying the content.
This could come in handy for activities like watching videos together or delivering presentations with sound. It will be interesting to see how the feature will navigate through potential copyright issues, especially regarding streaming apps with protected data.
