  • With the iPad mini 7 launching recently via a surprise press release, there was a question if the new MacBooks will get the same treatment.

It’s pretty much confirmed that Apple is going to start featuring its M4 chip in a new line of Macs, but the timeline of the launch is still under wraps. With the iPad mini 7 launching recently via a surprise press release, there was a question if the new MacBooks will get the same treatment.

However, known Apple analyst Mark Gurman posted on X that the launch is “imminent” and hinted that the company will unveil the new Mac next week, possibly on October 30, of not the day before. A few days later, Apple's Greg Joswiak confirmed a full week of Mac accountments starting on Monday, October 28.

Apple To Power New MacBooks With M4 Chipset

Gurman continued his thread by saying that Apple does not plan on hosting an event, and the announcement will be made similar to how the iPad mini was announced, via a press release and a video.

Fans can expect to see some of the devices released during this announcement, including the M4-powered iMac, M4 MacBook Pro redesigned M4 Mac mini, and a number of USB-C accessories.

As of now, the current iPad Pro, which launched in May this year, comes with the M4 system-on-chip. This could mean that the company doesn’t feel a need to go as in-depth about the chip or its presence on their laptops and desktop systems.

Apple Could Launch Cheaper Version Of Vision Pro In 2025

Apple seems to prepping to launch a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset as early as next year. At least that’s what Bloopberg’s Mark Gurman suggested in his Power On newsletter. As per a report from 9To5Mac, the upcoming headset is said to be priced around $2,000, significantly lower than the premium Apple Vision Pro, which launched earlier this year at $3,499.

Reportedly, Apple’s move to fast-track the development of a cheaper headset stems from the hefty price of the first-generation headset, which has limited its appeal and accessibility to a much wider audience. Previous reports suggested that the company had paused Vision Pro development to focus on this lower-cost variant, which remains Apple’s priority.

As per the report, the affordable version of the headset could pack downgraded components, including a less powerful processor and cheaper materials. While the Vision Pro packs the M2 chip, it is said that the lower-end model will leverage an A-series chipset, which is similar in performance to the M1 chip. Besides, it could have a plastic build in place of the premium aluminum and glass design of its higher-end counterpart.

Highlights

  • WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform, is working on a new feature that will enable users to create and share sticker packs.

  • According to WABetaInfo, the new feature is being tested on WhatsApp beta for Android Android v2.24.22.13.

  • The menu that appears when tapping on a sticker has a new option called “Create your own,” which lets users quickly create their own sticker pack.

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform used by billions worldwide, is working on a new feature that will enable users to create and share sticker packs, eliminating the need to rely on third-party apps.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature is being tested on WhatsApp beta for Android Android v2.24.22.13. As the screenshot suggests, the menu that appears when tapping on a sticker has a new option called “Create your own,” which lets users quickly create their own sticker pack.

Users Can Also Share Their Custom Sticker Packs

Compared to current implementations, where users need to manually add sticker packs, the new functionality will help reduce clutter since users will be able to create custom packs by adding their favorite stickers. This might also help declutter the ‘Favourites’ section, which can be difficult to navigate if users have added several stickers to the section.

The publication also noted that in addition to creating and sharing sticker packs, the app will also enable users to add or remove stickers. And since these sticker packs can be shared, they can easily sent to their contacts, who will be able to import them with two taps on the screen.

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform recently announced that it is rolling out a new feature that allows users to store contacts on the app itself. As reported earlier, the company also confirmed that it will be introducing usernames on the platform.

WhatsApp To Let Users Manage Contacts From Linked Devices

WhatsApp has a feature that enables users to simultaneously use the messaging app on multiple devices. It’s great for people who carry separate work and home devices or use the app on a PC or tablet. However, this feature has some limitations.

The platform doesn’t allow users to save new contacts on secondary devices, requiring them to use the primary phone to add or manage contacts. Well, it seems the platform is going to change it soon. In a recent blog post, the platform announced that it will soon allow users to add and manage contacts on WhatsApp Web and Windows. The messaging app will also give users a new option to save contacts exclusively to WhatsApp, letting them easily separate personal and business contacts while using multiple WhatsApp accounts on a smartphone.

WhatsApp plans to bring this functionality to other linked devices but has yet to share a release timeline. The platform has also confirmed it is working to add support for usernames to the app, which will “add an extra degree of privacy so that you don’t need to share your phone number when messaging someone.”

Samsung Could Launch Triple-Screen Foldable Phone In 2025

Huawei swept headlines when it unveiled the Mate XT earlier this year. This might be the beginning of the dual-folding triple-screen phones, although it’s currently limited to China. So, when will other brands release their own commercial devices?

Well, ZDNet Korea (via SammyGuru) reports that Samsung is planning to release a triple-screen foldable phone next year. And it seems like the pieces are in place for mass production.

“Samsung Display’s partners have also completed the development of parts for the trifold model and are already ready for commercialization,” an industry insider was quoted as saying by the outlet. “Of course, the final release of the product depends on the decision of Samsung Electronics’ MX division, so we will have to watch the trend a little more closely.”
