Google is reportedly creating new AI-backed chatbots based on celebrities and YouTube influencers. These character-based chatbots, powered by Google’s large language model (LLM), could have the voices of celebrities or even be customized by users, however they wish. Besides, these customizable bots are said to be designed to make conversations and not just to answer user queries like Gemini AI.
As per a report by the Information (via 9to5Google), the company is trying to bring several celebrities and influencers on board with this project. It will also enable users to create their own chatbots, a feature already available to Character.ai or Meta AI users.

Which Celebrities Will Be Lending Voices For The Tool
Further, the report highlights that these bots will be powered by Gemini, but there is no word on whether it would use the Gemini 1.5 Pro or the previously launched Gemini 1.0 model. However, this is a standalone project and will be different from other Google services.
The report also doesn’t specify the list of the celebrities or social influencers’ voices included in these chatbots. Meta has already roped in popular influencers and celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Charli D'Amelio, MrBeast, Tom Brady, and more. The company also released AI-based characters of these celebrities on their Messenger app.
However, celebrity-voiced chatbots were brought into the mainstream by character.ai, where users will be able to create AI bots by adding a text prompt describing the character and its personality. As of now, it has voices of popular celebrities and characters including Elon Musk, Tony Stark, Batman, and more. The launch date of this project is yet to be announced and the report suggests Google Labs might be revealed soon.
