Why Has Brock Lesnar Been Removed From The Cover of WWE 2K24 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition?
January was a mixed bag of various news concerning WWE. They first announced a new 5-year deal with Netflix to broadcast their show raw on the streaming platform. They followed that by announcing the signing of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a part of the board of Directors for the newly formed TKO.
Amid the wave of news concerning TKO, former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon and other executives. The lawsuit alleges sexual misconduct and trafficking by Vince McMahon against a former employee, Janel Grant. McMahon left the company after she sued him and an ex-executive for sexual assault and trafficking to lure wrestling talent.
Lesnar, while not named in the suit, has been implicated in the lawsuit. The document refers to a "WWE Superstar, who was also a former UFC Champion". While this doesn't necessarily single out Brock Lesnar, there are no wrestlers on the roster that have held UFC gold.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Lesnar was recently removed from the Top Trumps game, known as "WWE SuperCard," and that his status as a full-fledged member of the company is currently in doubt. Following the news of the lawsuit coming out, Brock Lesnar was also removed from his reported return in the Royal Rumble Pay Per View. Due to Lesnar being implicated in the lawsuit while not being named in the lawsuit, WWE believed it to be better to not get him back on national TV. The updated poster of WWE 2K24 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition instead of Brock Lesnar beside the Undertaker now has John Cena in it. WWE 2K24 will be released on March 8 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
