Apple seems to prepping to launch a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset as early as next year. At least that’s what Bloopberg’s Mark Gurman suggested in his Power On newsletter.
As per a report from 9To5Mac, the upcoming headset is said to be priced around $2,000, significantly lower than the premium Apple Vision Pro, which launched earlier this year at $3,499.
Reportedly, Apple’s move to fast-track the development of a cheaper headset stems from the hefty price of the first-generation headset, which has limited its appeal and accessibility to a much wider audience. Previous reports suggested that the company had paused Vision Pro development to focus on this lower-cost variant, which remains Apple’s priority.

How Powerful Will Be the Cheaper Vision Pro Headset
As per the report, the affordable version of the headset could pack downgraded components, including a less powerful processor and cheaper materials. While the Vision Pro packs the M2 chip, it is said that the lower-end model will leverage an A-series chipset, which is similar in performance to the M1 chip. Besides, it could have a plastic build in place of the premium aluminum and glass design of its higher-end counterpart.
One notable removal could be the EySight feature, which was launched with the Vision Pro. This feature, which shows the users’s eyes on the exterior of the headset through lenticular displays, will reportedly be removed in the cost-cutting process.
While EySight brought a unique interactive element, enabling people nearby to see the users’ eyes, it proved expensive to implement because of the added external display. Apple is all set to launch a more affordable version of its Apple Vision headset as early as 2025, as per Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter.

Apple To Launch Smart Glasses, AirPods With Camera In 2027
Apple is developing new vision-based products, including smart glasses and camera-equipped AirPods. These innovative devices are expected to resemble Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration, as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
However, these products are still years away from launch, with a projected launch date of 2027 at the earliest. The products are still in development, and it’s likely they might not materialize. Apple’s expansion into wearable technology and augmented reality aim to enhance user experience, but fans will have to wait for long to get their hands on these devices.
Apple aims to recoup its huge investment in Apple Vision Pro’s visual intelligence by integrating the technology into additional products. Following the iPhone 16’s camera control announcement, Apple plans to bring smart glasses with built-in cameras, speakers, and microphones, similar to Meta’s popular Ray-Ban glasses. These glasses won’t offer full augmented reality displays but will use visual intelligence for enhanced functionality.
