According to the latest report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will be adding another layer of privacy to users’ Status updates. The report suggests that the new WhatsApp beta Android 2.24.12.27 update found that WhatsApp is rolling out a Status privacy confirmation feature.

This means that users will be able to control who sees their individual Status updates. Anytime a user uploads a WhatsApp Status, a prompt will appear right before they share, showing them their status’ privacy settings and asking them if they want to change it. By showing these privacy settings before sharing content, users will be able to post their Status updates to specific groups without having to adjust their settings for each Status individually.

Users will be able to share a Status update with All contacts or Specific contacts previously set up by the user. As of now, the popular messaging app enables users to control who gets to view Status updates through Settings > Privacy; users will be able to select who can view their updates on the Status Editor page.

WhatsApp Wants To Provide Users With New Privacy Features

With the new update, WhatsApp aims to remind users to whom their Status update is visible and adjust their privacy settings, making sure that their content reaches only to people they want they want.

While it's uncertain when this update will roll out to users, WABetaInfo claims that the Status privacy confirmation feature is currently available to select beta users. The feature will be rolled out to more people in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the messaging app recently announced that it will allow for longer Status updates and voice notes. This enables users to upload WhatsApp Status videos for up to one minute. These changes allow users to put out longer moments and Stories with their friends and family.

More Users To Get WhatsApp’s Chat Lock Feature On Linked Devices

In May 2023, Meta rolled out the Chat Lock feature for WhatsApp, which enables users to lock and hide chats using a passcode or biometric authentication. While this is a handy feature, it only works on primary devices.

Thankfully, last month it was reported that the company had started testing Chat Lock on linked devices by releasing it for a select number of users. Well, Meta is now making the feature available to more people.

As per a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android  (version 2.24.11.9) offers the Chat Lock feature on linked devices also. What’s more important, the new feature seems to be available for all users who are using this version of the app instead of making it available for a select few users.
